Μια 75χρονη γυναίκα από τη Δυτική Βιρτζίνια των ΗΠΑ, φέρεται να άφησε τον 76χρονο σύζυγό της, ο οποίος έπασχε από Αλτσχάιμερ και ήταν τυφλός, στην τουαλέτα για 19 ώρες. Η Μάργκαρετ Ρογκ, κατηγορήθηκε για παραμέληση ανίκανου ενήλικα, με αποτέλεσμα να τον οδηγήσει στον θάνατο.
Σύμφωνα με τοπικά μέσα ενημέρωσης της Δυτικής Βιρτζίνια, ο 76χρονος πάσχων από Αλτσχάιμερ έμεινε όλες αυτές τις ώρες χωρίς νερό και φαγητό.
Πήγε στην τουαλέτα στις 3 μ.μ. της 20ής Αυγούστου και δεν μπορούσε ούτε καν να σταθεί όρθιος.
Οι ερευνητές αναφέρουν ότι η 75χρονη γυναίκα δεν μπόρεσε να τον σηκώσει, δεν του έδωσε φαγητό, νερό ή φάρμακα, τον είδε να βογκάει από τον πόνο και πήγε για ύπνο αντί να καλέσει βοήθεια…
Ένας λογοθεραπευτής τον βρήκε αναίσθητο το επόμενο πρωί. Ο άτυχος ηλικιωμένος νοσηλεύτηκε με ραβδομυόλυση, σήψη, σοβαρή αφυδάτωση, πληγές από πίεση, καρδιακή και αναπνευστική ανεπάρκεια, καθώς και πνευμονική εμβολή.
Τελικά άφησε την τελευταία του πνοή στις 31 Αυγούστου.
MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — September 16, 2026 — Margaret Louise Rog, 75, was charged with abuse or neglect of an incapacitated adult after authorities said her 76-year-old husband remained on a toilet for approximately 19 hours before receiving emergency medical care. The case was investigated by the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office.Rog was arrested Tuesday. According to a criminal complaint filed in magistrate court, her husband had dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, legal blindness and other medical conditions. He entered the bathroom at their Orchard Crossing Apartments residence around 3 p.m. on August 20.Investigators said Rog could not help him stand and left him without food, water or prescribed medication.A speech therapist arrived for a scheduled appointment at approximately 10 a.m. on August 21 and found the man unresponsive. She called 911 at 10:13 a.m., and he was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital.The complaint lists medical diagnoses including heart failure, respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism, hypernatremia, sepsis, rhabdomyolysis, pressure wounds, shortness of breath and altered mental status. The man died August 31.Investigators said his medical condition and injuries related to the incident were significant contributing factors.Court documents allege Rog heard her husband groaning in pain, understood he needed assistance, did not call for help and went to bed. The complaint also describes statements she made to deputies, Adult Protective Services and family members.
